I also hear Spanish translated fairly regularly at my work. There are lots of options, but I settled mostly on News in Slow Spanish (paid, but not that expensive) and Netflix (which has a lot of Spanish language or Spanish translated programming) - which you can then subtitle in English or Spanish. I used duo almost exclusively for the first 250-300 days of that, then started consuming more media. Lots of Spanish hating here, but I actually feel like it has helped me a great deal.Ħ90 days ago (my current streak) I couldn't speak a word of Spanish. Hell, go to Lingvist's website for Spanish and French. I can understand native speakers speak, even if I don't know the vocabulary, but it's a pain in the arse with Duolingo's TTS. It wouldn't be so bad, if Duolingo contributors or whoever would actually pick good TTS that can actually speak worth a damn.
Why you think book courses and the like use humans. TTS is useless and you can't build listening comprehension with it. Ukrainian and Esperanto do this because it was hard to find a TTS. None of the courses use native audio if a TTS is available. Everyone having their own way of doing things like Argentina using voseo, same with Uruguay, Colombia, etc. I don't consider "Latin America" Spanish to be one just ONE dialect, but actually a big chuck of Latin American countries.

I'm not talking about just using Duolingo alone without outside resources does NOT get you to A1. The sentences get advanced enough toward the end that if you (of course) use outside resources, you can get higher than A1. That's an interesting assumption you made there. The course teaching you imperatives (without Tips & Notes, of course). I don't consider "querer que" touching subjunctive. Not in depth, but it gives you a solid intro (if you use outside notes to supplement). It'd accept answers, even when they're wrong like using estar instead of ser for example.Uses weird vocabulary like "emparedado" rather than "bocadillo" and "sándwich.".You can't really understand it that well without seeing the text it's speaking. Not enough practice with the indirect/direct object pronouns.Mixes up the meanings of future tense and "ir a." The same amount of time you would spend on the Duolingo course, you could get further with book courses like Teach Yourself and Colloquial.
